ahm now the official sponsor of Pickleball - the greatest sport you've probably never heard of

ahm health insurance today announced its official sponsorship of the National Pickleball League Australia (NPL), joining forces with Australia’s premium pickleball organisation as the sport takes the world and Australia by storm.

Never heard of Pickleball? Pickleball is a fun and straightforward blend of net-based sports like tennis and badminton. Its simple rules, smaller court, and larger ball make it easy to learn and suitable for people of a variety of ages and fitness levels.

ahm Senior Executive Sally Haydon said “we are excited to announce our sponsorship today. The NPL is doing amazing things for the growth of pickleball in Australia. It’s thriving in the US, and we’re proud to be part of its growth in Australia.

“At ahm, we encourage good health and wellbeing habits, and this is a great opportunity to give our members a fun and social way of staying fit and healthy. We believe this sport was built for our members and this is the first step in bringing them on the Pickleball journey.

“Pickleball's surge in global popularity comes as no surprise. Its simplicity, enjoyment, and social nature make it a game everyone can enjoy, no matter their skill level. This is why ahm is proud to sponsor the league,” Ms Haydon concluded.

Ron Shell, CEO of the National Pickleball League in Australia said, “the partnership with ahm health insurance was a no brainer for us”.

“We really want to encourage Australians to get on board and become picklers – it’s a sport that everyone can get into no matter their ability. Most importantly it’s a great way to get your friends and family together for a friendly (or not so friendly) game.”

ahm and NPL are working together to bring more good things to its members in future.

Pickleball is the fastest-growing sport in America, seeing a 52% increase in people trying the sport in 2023. That’s 13.6 million people in one year. And growth in Australia is following the same trend, with the NPL expecting over a million Australians to try the sport in the next 3 years.
