Delacombe Primary School has been rewarded for its commitment to healthy living, taking out the 2013 Victorian Medibank Healthy Participation Award as part of the Regional Achievement & Community Awards.
The School was awarded the honour at a ceremony in Bendigo on Saturday evening after being shortlisted from 30 projects across the state.
Medibank Regional Manager for Ballarat, Mary Davis, commended Delacombe's work in implementing a range of healthy living programs, particularly their establishment of a kitchen garden on the School's grounds.
"Delacombe Primary School should be congratulated, not just for winning the Medibank Healthy Participation Award but for instilling in our young Australians a healthy approach to life and eating," Mary said.
"This is the third year of Medibank's involvement with the Regional Achievement & Community Awards and we have been amazed at the level of innovation and positivity in all the initiatives put forward.
"We are proud to be able to recognise the value of community input and celebrate the work of individuals and groups who strive to improve wellbeing within regional Victoria.
"We look forward to working closely with award winners such as Delacombe to assist in enriching the lives of the students, their families and the broader school community."
