Continuing to support health research in Australia

I’m pleased to share Health Research at Medibank 2024, a showcase of the research we supported in the 2024 financial year as part of our commitment to our Better Health for Better Lives purpose.

Our $970,000 investment in research supported 15 active projects in areas during the year including alternative models of healthcare delivery, healthcare transparency, loneliness and keeping women active.

These projects include evaluating a new model of delivering primary healthcare, appraising the impact of on-the-job training for First Nations healthcare trainees in the Northern Territory, updating the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners’ Guideline for the management of knee and hip osteoarthritis, and developing information resources for female runners.

Much of our support for research comes via the Medibank Better Health Foundation (MBHF), which is helping to drive research and patient advocacy initiatives to improve the health and wellbeing of all Australians.

Thank you to the researchers and clinicians who contributed to this report, and who share our commitment to creating, building and sharing knowledge in areas of important health and health system need.

We look forward to supporting research into the future as we look to Medibank’s 2030 vision to deliver the best health and wellbeing for Australia.
