Medibank today announced that the Mater group of hospitals and health services in Queensland have renewed their agreement with the fund to provide healthcare services for Medibank members.
Mater provides services to more than 500,000 Queenslanders each year through a network of hospitals in South East, Central and North Queensland and plays an important role in the delivery of private health services across the state.
Dr Shane Kelly, Chief Executive Officer of Mater Health Services in Brisbane, said the agreement builds on the partnership between Mater and Medibank and places both organisations in a strong position to tackle the challenges facing Australia's health system.
"This is a great outcome for Medibank members who use our services in regional Queensland as they will continue to have access to excellent healthcare close to home," Dr Kelly said.
Medibank Executive General Manager of Provider Networks and Integrated Care, Dr Andrew Wilson said: "Our agreement will ensure that Medibank members who attend Mater hospitals will continue to receive high-quality care, while helping to keep member premiums affordable."
Mater now joins over 50 other hospitals across Australia who are partnering with Medibank to help improve patient outcomes and maintain the affordability of healthcare services in Australia's private hospitals.
