Amplar Health Chief Executive, Robert Read;
Medibank and Amplar Health welcome the Albanese government’s announcement this morning, that if re-elected a Labor government would commit $8.5 billion to strengthen Medicare and ensure bulk billing to all Australians.
Primary care is the gateway to our health system. Improving access by reducing the cost barrier to seeing a GP is essential to improve health outcomes for all Australians. An effective primary care system is critical to support a sustainable Australian healthcare system and take pressure off hospitals.
As a shareholder in Myhealth, one of Australia’s largest GP networks, this is an important step to support the primary care system and is required to create the shifts that are needed in healthcare – to improve health outcomes for all patients and deliver the improvements to the system that are much needed.
Myhealth Chief Executive Officer, Dr Hadrian Lee;
This is welcome news, by improving accessibility we know patients are more likely to visit their GP which in turn will improve health outcomes.
