    Medibank community grants closing soon

With only a week left to apply it’s time for not-for-profit organisations to get cracking on submitting their applications for a 2015 Medibank Community Grant.

This year Medibank is providing $600,000 to support local initiatives throughout Australia and New Zealand that encourage healthy eating, physical activity and community connectedness.

And for the first time the shortlisted applications from Australia will be open to a public vote.

Medibank’s Head of Corporate Social Responsibility Rita Marigliani said that opening voting up to the community would raise much-needed awareness of the important work local organisations are doing to better the health of Australians.

“Our vision is that people of all ages will live longer and in good health by being encouraged to eat well, stay mentally and physically active and connected with their communities. It’s all part of Generation Better,” Ms Marigliani said.

The Medibank Community Fund is proud to be supporting local initiatives that give Australians from all walks of life a chance to lead healthier and more active lives. We encourage the public to get behind this initiative and encourage their local sporting or community group to apply for 2015 funding.”

This year 42 projects were funded under the Medibank Community Fund (MCF) Community Grants program, to support the physical and mental health and wellbeing of everyone from toddlers through to senior citizens, right across rural, regional and metropolitan areas.
