The Australian Football League is developing a partnership with Australia's largest private health insurer, Medibank Private.
Medibank Private will become an official corporate partner of the AFL for the next three years. The partnership will be used to promote the Medibank Private brand to Australians and educate football supporters of the benefit of exercise, but more importantly how to do it safely.
The announcement comes as the Toyota AFL Premiership Season is set to get underway.
The partnership will see Medibank Private supporting the AFL medicarts used at AFL grounds and the injury update on the big screens at the MCG and Telstra Dome.
AFL CEO, Andrew Demetriou, said he was delighted to bring the country's leading private health fund into the fold of AFL Corporate Partnership.
"Medibank Private is a great Australian brand and one that is focused on improving the health and wellbeing of many Australians. We welcome Medibank Private and look forward to working together on promoting better health and welfare outcomes for everyone," Mr Demetriou said.
Medibank Private, Head of Marketing, Tim Morphy, said that the partnership was an extension of Medibank's support of diverse sporting events across the country and its proven commitment to raising the awareness of how to get active but avoid sporting injuries.
"This new partnership also allows us to communicate to millions of Australians about the value of our private health insurance.
"Improving awareness of the value of private health insurance and potentially attracting a broader membership base is but one factor in Medibank Private's commitment to offer affordable health cover and value to our members," Mr Morphy said.
