Medibank has joined forces with the Good Cycles Bike Room, providing $10,000 to help continue the great work the Docklands not-for-profit social enterprise undertakes in the local community.
Good Cycles mobile bike mechanics provides same day bike maintenance and repair services, with all profits used to help fund its charitable arm which provides programs, support, training and jobs for long-term unemployed disadvantaged Melburnians.
Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at Medibank Rita Marigliani said the Good Cycles program was a fantastic initiative that Medibank’s large contingent of staff who regularly ride their bikes to and from work, were being encouraged to use the service.
“Through the Medibank Community Fund we have been able to provide some funding to Good Cycles to continue its great work with unemployed young people and others in the community who are homeless or at risk,” Ms Marigliani said.
“Not only is this a great, convenient service we know is helping out those in need, it’s also encouraging people to be active by riding their bikes, and is perfectly aligned to Generation Better and our Better Health message.”
