Medibank Private and The Wiggles today launched a joint initiative that focuses on the health and safety of young children.
'Medibank Wiggle into Health' supports parents in teaching and encouraging healthy habits that children will take through their lives, and Medibank Private Managing Director, George Savvides believes the partnership is an exciting step in addressing some serious issues.
"Both The Wiggles and Medibank Private are committed to improving the health and wellbeing of all Australians. By joining together we can communicate important messages to young Australian families in an entertaining and fun way," Mr Savvides said.
"Our business is health and The Wiggles speak directly to young families, so it makes sense for us to join forces to tackle these important health issues."
Mike Conway, Managing Director of The Wiggles, agrees that the collaboration is a positive approach to child health.
"This joint initiative focuses on something that the Wiggles and Medibank Private are passionate about - the health of children. I know that we can achieve a lot together, and look forward to a long and healthy partnership with Medibank Private, and seeing the positive influence it has on families," Mr Conway said.
At the centre of the partnership is the Medibank Wiggle into Health website -wiggleintohealth.com - which provides information for parents and carers and games for children. The website covers four topics - nutrition, safety, hygiene, and physical activity - each represented by a different member of The Wiggles.
"Nutrition, safety, hygiene, and physical activity are really important topics for children to understand, and building health behaviours at a young age goes a long way to preventing some of the widespread health concerns such as Type-2 diabetes, heart disease, obesity and osteoporosis.
"We hope the Medibank Wiggle into Health website will inspire young families to adopt healthy behaviours that lead to a healthy life," Medibank Private Managing Director, George Savvides, said.
