Medibank Private has announced the appointments of Mr Brian Keane and Mr Roger Harley by the Minister for Finance and Administration, Senator the Hon Nick Minchin, to the company's Board of Directors.
Mr Keane and Mr Harley have held a number of Board and executive management positions in their respective careers, and bring to the fund a diverse range of senior level experience from the insurance and financial services sectors.
The Chairman of Medibank Private, Mr Peter Kirby, welcomed Mr Keane and Mr Harley to the Board and said he looked forward to their contribution.
"I am delighted that Brian Keane and Roger Harley have accepted Senator Minchin's invitation to join the Medibank Private Board. They each bring a unique set of skills and valuable industry experience earned over many years in the general insurance and financial sectors," Mr Kirby said.

Brian Keane was the Chief Executive Officer of AAMI Limited from 1983-2002. Currently, Mr Keane is a Director of CSIRO, Law Cover Pty Ltd (NSW Solicitors Professional Indemnity Fund) and Aurora Energy Pty Ltd. He has been a Director of RAC Insurance Limited since 2000.
Mr Keane has a long history in the insurance sector as a former Director and President of the Insurance Council of Australia, and one of the original directors of IEC Limited, the self-regulatory insurance consumer dispute resolution body. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Australian Marketing Institute.
Roger Harley is the founder and Director of Fawkner Capital, a boutique investment bank based in Melbourne. From 1989-1998 he worked for Deutsche Bank in New York, Sydney and Melbourne and held positions including Director Corporate Finance and Director Equity Capital Markets. Mr Harley was one of four founding members of Deutsche Bank's highly successful Australian Corporate Finance team.
Currently, Mr Harley is a member of the Pooled Development Funds Registration Board and Funds Management Committee of the Industry Research and Development Board, positions he has held since 2001 and 2003, respectively. He is a Trustee on the Yarra Bend Park Trust, and in 1999 Chaired the Kakadu Tourism Group of Companies.
