Australia’s largest private health insurer, Medibank Private, will be supporting The Salvation Army’s Christmas Appeal, helping many Australians living below the poverty line share some of the joys of Christmas.
Each year, The Salvation Army assists nearly 300,000 families who struggle to meet the financial demands of Christmas.
This Christmas Medibank Private will help the Salvos by placing gift donation bins in all its 102 retail centres across Australia and its corporate offices.
Medibank Private customers and staff will be asked to donate new toys so the Salvos can achieve their aim of giving out 250,000 toys to young children who may otherwise receive no gifts at Christmas time. Medibank Private’s retail centres will have the donations bins displayed until 19 December.
Medibank Private Managing Director, George Savvides, believes supporting The Salvation Army is a great way to share the Christmas spirit with those less fortunate.
“Christmas for many people can be a sad and stressful time, especially for those living below the poverty line. We hope to work together with the Salvos to ease the strain for many Australians to help them celebrate the joy of Christmas,” he said.
The Salvation Army’s Communications Director, John Dalziel, urges people making a toy donation to remember children of all ages, including teenagers.
“Children in need are the same as all other children, and like to receive toys at Christmas time. We encourage everyone to offer their support to needy families at this time of year. By supporting the Salvos’ Christmas Appeal, Medibank Private staff and customers will help many children share the spirit of the festive season,” he said.
