Medibank Health Solutions has won a five-year contract to deliver the medical personnel and services for the Gorgon Project - Australia's single largest resources operation.
The five-year partnership worth approximately $20 million will see Medibank Health Solutions' doctors, nurses and physiotherapists deliver services to both construction and operational staff on Barrow and Thevenard Islands off the north-west coast of Western Australia.
Medibank Managing Director, George Savvides, believes the contract reinforces the integrated health solutions offering that Medibank Health Solutions provides.
"Securing this contract through our Health Solutions division is a big win for Medibank, and a reflection of the quality of medical support delivered by Health Services Australia. It sends a strong message about our ability in the area of service delivery," Mr Savvides said.
"Medibank Health Solutions will be providing an all encompassing medical service for injury treatment and management, injury prevention programs, drug and alcohol testing, health education and a General Practitioner (GP) service for non-work related injuries and illnesses."
As part of the contract Medibank will partner with St John Ambulance to ensure the availability of industrial paramedics. This joint service delivery model has already proven its success over the past two and a half years as part an existing contract with Chevron.
Over the past few years Medibank has expanded to become much more than just a health insurer. Through the merger with Health Services Australia Medibank now employs over 1,000 doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, psychologists and other practitioners which enable us to deliver a comprehensive suite of medical and support services via our Health Solutions division.
