Hospital

Pays benefits towards accommodation and medical costs for included medical procedures in hospital. This includes charges for treatment you receive from doctors, specialists, surgeons and anaesthetists.

Medical

Pays benefits towards medical services in and out of hospital.

  • Inpatient medical services
  • General Practitioner (GP) consultations
  • Other out-of-hospital medical services (blood tests & x-rays)
  • Allied Health services billed with an MBS item number^

Pharmacy

Pays benefits towards the cost of eligible prescription medicines. You will be required to pay a contribution of $30 towards the cost of each eligible prescription medicine before we'll pay any benefits.

  • Annual limit of $500 per member (up to $1,000 per membership)#
  • Benefit amount of up to $70 per item

Ambulance

For ambulance attendance and transportation to a hospital where immediate professional attention is required and your medical condition is such that you couldn't be transported any other way.

+A ‘facility fee’ is an amount that may be charged by private hospitals for attendance in their accident and emergency department. The fee may not include all medical services provided and out-of-pocket expenses may apply such as for x-rays, blood tests and any charges raised by the doctor above the benefit we pay.

~If anyone on your membership is admitted to hospital for a service Included under your cover and a partner, immediate family member, carer, or next of kin (referred to as a ‘boarder’) needs to stay in hospital with them, we’ll pay towards the cost of accommodation and meals raised by the hospital for that ‘boarder’. Up to $150 per admission.

^Services not provided by a doctor but are billed with an MBS item number. For example, eye checks and services related to chronic disease and mental health management plans

1  Waiting times may vary depending on doctor availability. No benefits are payable by Medibank OSHC for text only consults and no shows. You are unable to receive e-prescriptions, specialist referrals, diagnostic requests through the Online Doctor service.  Additional document and handling fees apply for the issue of medical documents such as medical certificates.  For privacy reasons, Partners and Dependants on a policy may not access Online Doctor through the Medibank OSHC app. Online Doctor is offered on a trial basis and may be discontinued at any time.
