Reflecting the communities in which we work

We are stronger because of our differences. We’re building an inclusive workplace where diversity matters, and our team reflects the broader community which we serve.

Through cultural awareness training, we’re learning more about Indigenous Australians and we continue to support and advocate for LGBTI communities.

A leader in gender equality, women make up half of our leadership team, we have a strong pipeline of female talent, and we support gender pay equity – tracking the pay gap to ensure there is never more than a 1% difference between genders.

Breaking down the disability barrier

This year we worked with Get Skilled Access (GSA), customers and employees to develop our first Accessibility & Inclusion Plan. As part of creating a disability inclusive culture within Medibank, GSA founder Dylan Alcott OAM spoke to the Board about common challenges that people with disability can face and how Medibank can help. Our senior leaders got to experience disability first hand when they took part in an immersive experience designed to highlight the opportunity for improving access across the business.

We have committed to improving accessibility in all retail stores and offices, enhancing disability access to our website and mobile apps, and helping our contact centre team better assist customers with communication challenges.

We’re one of Australia’s top two companies on the Australian Network on Disability’s 2018-19 Access and Inclusion Index.
