How to make a claim
Everything you need to know about making hospital, medical, and ancillary claims, as well as compensation (third party) claims and claims for non-resident members. You can also learn about the Medibank digital card and how to help your patients use it in your practice.
Information about the Digital Card
- Ensure you are on the latest version of the Medibank App (version 3.7.0)
- Log into the Medibank App
- Tap on Tap & Claim on the home screen
- Proceed through the on-boarding screens
- Digital card will appear on the screen (this means you are all setup)
- If a member have multiple policy they will need to select a default card to use as “digital card”
Members have 2 choices to use their digital card:
1. Without logging into the Medibank App:
a. Unlock your mobile phone
b. Tap the mobile phone on the HICAPS Terminal
c. This should activate the HICAPS Terminal & bring the digital card on the mobile phone (no further action is required on the member’s side – the provider can continue on entering information on HICAPS Terminal)
2. Log into the Medibank App:
a. Log into the Medibank App
b. Tap on Tap & Claim
c. Tap the mobile phone on HICAPS Terminal
d. This should activate the HICAPS Terminal & bring the digital card on the mobile phone (no further action is required on the member’s side – the provider can continue on entering information on HICAPS Terminal)
1. Digital card is only available for members with the below criteria:
- Android phone with NCF functionality
- Installed the Medibank App
- Active policy (this means their account is not in arrears or suspended)
- Residential, overseas visitors and overseas workers. Overseas students will not have access to the Medibank App
2. HICAPS Terminal must be “awake” in order for the digital card to work.
3. Digital card will display the members policy number and positions of their beneficiaries
4. Members who have recently add/remove a member on their policy will require to retrieve the updated detail by logging into the Medibank App and tap on “Tap & Claim” from the home screen, this will retrieve the latest information on their digital card.
