Your Medibank card, now on your phone

With a digital card, you can tap your phone to make contactless claims at any extras provider with a HICAPS machine. Plus, having a digital card on your phone means you no longer need to carry your physical card with you. And if you’re new to Medibank, you can start using your digital card before your physical card arrives in the mail. 

If you see the error message "Something went wrong"- your policy may need to be updated in our system before a pass can be issued. This will happen automatically and can take up to two business days. Please try adding your card again after two days.

Yes, you can still use your physical card as usual. 

With the My Medibank app you can access a digital card and make fast, contactless claims with a tap of your phone, without the need of a physical card.

However, if you would like a physical card, you can order a new one from your My Medibank account. 

To order a new card, follow these steps:

Online:

• Log in to My Medibank and click Me from the top menu.
• From the "Need a new card" tile, click the Order a new card link.
• In the pop-up, confirm your reason for reordering and click the Order card button.

App:

• Navigate to the Cover tab and tap Health Insurance.
• Next, tap the Need a new membership card button and confirm your reason for reordering from the prompt.

Yes, any changes you make to your policy such as adding or removing members will be reflected on your digital membership card.

For iOS users, we recommend selecting automatic updates when adding your digital membership card to your Apple Wallet so any changes to your policy or membership will update automatically. 

iOS users can find your card issue date on the back of your digital card in your Apple Wallet. To access the back of the card, simply tap the three dots on your screen.

There is no card issue date on digital cards for Android phones. You can message our team if you need help with an issue date.

For iOS users, this information can be found on the back of your digital card which you can access by taping the three dots on your screen. 

For android users, this information can be found on the same screen as the Medibank digital card towards the bottom of the page.

Your Medibank digital card on your Android and iOS phone is protected with your My Medibank login details or device authentication. If your device authentication has been compromised, please contact Medibank to block the digital card.

Our digital cards do not expire. 

A small number of providers (3%) use iSoft terminals, where the digital card cannot be used to tap and claim. In this case, you can either use your physical card or lodge a claim via the My Medibank app or online.
